Enhancing education on renewables through solar lighting – finance institute bettervest and solar supplier TellCo Europe Switzerland start cooperation.

The German crowd investing platform bettervest cooperates with solar light and electricity provider TellCo Europe to improve sustainable clean energy supply in developing countries. The companies want to identify relevant projects for crowd investing and support them together from financing to project implementation. With the help of such projects, local learning and working conditions can be improved, the carbon footprint is reduced, electricity costs are eliminated, and renewable education is promoted in developing countries.

The crowd-investing platform bettervest, which is specialized in energy projects, starts cooperation with the solar light and off-grid electricity provider TellCo Europe Switzerland for the worldwide promotion of solar projects. Both companies aim to facilitate access to sustainable and clean energy in developing countries.

TellCo Europe solar electricity offering includes solutions such as the TellCoSOL Solar Home Systems, which are a total turnkey solution for clients in households, SME business offices, schools, hospitals, utility and construction companies, and nonprofit and government organizations.

The TellCoSOL mission is to provide high quality, efficient, and affordable solar electrical solutions for areas without electricity to create a brighter, safer, and greener environment.

The TellCoSOL Solar home systems are mainly installed throughout remote regions in developing countries, that are not connected to the local electricity grid. As a result, the systems supply new sources of clean, non-polluting power to rural areas and create new educational opportunities for adults and children.

As a crowd investing platform, bettervest brings investors and project owners together and thus shows new possibilities for financing projects with relatively small sums. By closing this financing gap, important energy projects can be realized, and active development aid can be provided, especially in developing countries. More than 80 projects have been financed on bettervest.com, many of them are international projects.

Both TellCo Europe and bettervest have set the goal of facilitating access to clean and renewable energy in Africa, South East Asia, and Latin America. The cooperation is intended to combine the strengths of both companies in order to increase the success of local projects. The main aim of the cooperation is to accelerate the implementation of solar and renewable energy projects.

TellCo Europe and bettervest have already jointly implemented a project with TellCoSol Solar Home Systems in Nigeria for Solarmate Engineering Limited, which will save 1,170 tons of CO2 annually. Further projects are to follow in Africa, South East Asia, and Latin America.

“We are delighted about our partnership with bettervest, as it creates a new way for investors to invest in our solar off-grid solutions around the world. We have found a partner in bettervest, who is also passionate about impact investing and solar off-grid solutions in developing countries”.

Rudolf Fiedler, CEO of TellCo Europe Sagl.

The cooperation has already shown advantages for project owners. In addition to well-rehearsed communication and the shortening of financing processes, project owners benefit from this cooperation through the smooth and fast implementation of solar projects.

Bettervest.com is the world’s first platform for crowd investing (also known as crowdfunding or equity-based crowdfunding), through which citizens can invest amounts of 50 euros or more in ecologically sensible energy and energy efficiency projects in Germany, emerging markets, and developing countries. In return, participate financially in the savings achieved. For all projects, experienced external energy consultants predict how high the expected cost, energy, and CO2 savings will be.

The project owners undertake to repay part of the cost savings to the citizen investors annually over a fixed contract period until the investment sum plus the return is paid out. Bettervest and Triodos Bank Deutschland have been cooperating since September 2018, Bettervest has also received the “Werkstatt-N-Siegel” of the German Council for Sustainable Development as well as funding under the EU framework programme Horizon2020 and is awarded “Ort im Land der Ideen”.
